Funnier Broads: Boston Comedy Chicks

This week highlights the kick ass group, Boston Comedy Chicks! Keep reading to find out all be cool stuff they do!

Boston Comedy ChicksBoston is a tough city. It vacillates from cold and unforgiving to warm and welcoming, sometimes within one block (and no, I’m not talking about the weather). You have to be fast, smart and have your head screwed all the way on your neck and not up your ass to survive. It’s also a good idea to have a wicked sense of humor. Over the years, Boston has produced some of the best comedic talent to ever take the microphone out of the stand. Ranging from Steven Wright to Bill Burr, Boston has shown it’s range. One of the best and most entertaining parts of this range are the women in Boston comedy. Enter Boston Comedy Chicks.

This group, run by all women, was founded by the need to support and elevate women’s voices in the comedy scene. Working under the umbrella of the Women in Comedy Festival, their exposure and outreach have been crucial to the Boston (and New England) comedy scene. Doyle’s Cafe is where they call home once a month and consistently produce shows with some of the most influential women in comedy. Although women are the primary performers on the shows, Boston Comedy Chicks are not and exclusive club. As of 2016, each show includes a male ally on the lineup. Adding more supportive voices into the lineups has only further strengthened their mission.

Aside from producing kick ass performances, they offer workshops to all comics looking to advance their writing and craft. These workshops are led by women who have years of industry experience and can offer fantastic insight into comedy and writing.

So, don’t just read what I’m telling you. Go to a show and you’ll see what I’m talking about. You won’t be disappointed!

Next show is Saturday, February 10th at 8pm at Doyle’s Cafe. Click here for tickets.

I write this blog to (over) share the good, bad, and absurd with the masses. You can also find me performing stand-up comedy. Or….eating pizza.
